Founder of Florida Center for Recovery, Jack Hamilton, is remembered today as a compassionate man who dedicated the later part of his life to helping others not only beat addiction, but also gain the skills needed to maintain sobriety for the rest of their lives. No matter how bad things got for someone, Jack never gave up on that person, and that’s what made him such a great helper.
Though Jack passed in 2010, Florida Center for Recovery continues to help people recover from addiction by providing compassionate affordable care with effective specialized treatment through inpatient services. Below were some of Jack’s most value beliefs that FCR still stands by proudly today:
Every addict deserves a chance, and another, and another…”Keep Giving ’em the chance, you never know when they’re going to get it,” he would say.
Forgiveness is more valuable to the one who gives it than to the one who receives it. Sure, it may require some ego-swallowing, but forgiveness can liberate the one asking for it, but also, the one giving it. When you forgive, you also heal, letting go of any negative feelings you had toward that person
Everyone is capable of change. Life provides endless opportunities for growth. Of all the things Jack accomplished over the course of his life, the changes he embraced in his last few years are the ones that brought him and his loved ones the most joy. It is never too late to ACHIEVE RECOVERY.
